Jewellery Store Website Design

Project Overview

Hamdemirciler Jewelry is a well-established jewelry retailer based in Bursa, Turkey. The project was delivered through a professional referral from MedyaPark, a local creative agency. The client had initially commissioned the website through MedyaPark, but after the agency’s web designer left and no replacement was found, the project remained stalled for over two years with no progress both in design and code. I was brought in to take full responsibility and deliver a functional, multilingual catalog-style website that aligned with the business’s goals and customer base.

My Role

I took full ownership of the project. My responsibilities included:

I also provided guidance on content strategy and collaborated with a photographer for a product shoot.

Technical Details

The website was built on WordPress using a lightweight responsive theme. I avoided WooCommerce to keep the structure clean and fast. Gallery layouts were used for product categorization. I handled all image optimization and editing manually, ensuring fast load times and visual consistency. For multilingual support, WPML was integrated.

In addition to design and development, I implemented security measures both at the WordPress level—using a reliable security plugin (undisclosed for safety)—and at the domain level via Cloudflare. These layers help protect against common vulnerabilities while enhancing performance and reliability.

I also handled Google integrations using a G Suite plugin, connecting the website with Google Analytics and Search Console. This setup enables the client to monitor site traffic, search performance, and user behavior independently.

Our collaboration with the client is ongoing as we continue to improve the digital presence and track analytics together.

Design Process

The website was designed as a digital catalog with no e-commerce features. Instead of WooCommerce, I created lightweight gallery-based category pages to showcase approximately 100–150 jewelry models. For key pieces, I arranged a professional photo shoot inside the store using a photographer provided by MedyaPark. The remaining product images were collected from supplier websites while carefully avoiding brand conflicts and licensing issues.

AI Generated Hero Section Design

One challenge was the homepage hero section. The store’s existing visuals lacked impact, and hiring a model for a custom photo shoot was outside the budget. Additionally, using branded products on a real model could create conflicts between different suppliers. To solve this, I used Midjourney to generate an AI-based hero image featuring a symbolic female figure wearing elegant, non-branded jewelry. This solution provided the necessary aesthetic quality without legal complications—making it one of my earliest real-world uses of generative AI, back in 2023.

At the client’s request, I also added a simple “Franchise Application” page to the site. While it wasn’t a core focus of the project, it helped address a specific business goal they had in mind.

To support the client’s multilingual target audience—especially considering the demographic shift in their customer base—we initially launched the site in Turkish and English, as I’m fluent in both and could easily manage updates and revisions. Since Arabic is a right-to-left language that I don’t speak, we delayed its integration until after verifying that all content in the other languages was accurate. This ensured a smooth translation process and minimized potential errors in the Arabic version.

The Outcome

The final website delivered a responsive, elegant catalog experience that worked beautifully across desktop, tablet, and mobile. The client was highly satisfied, especially after such a long delay with the previous agency. The site helped re-establish their digital presence and better connect with both local and international customers.
